Bill Whyte, CEO, Badger BalmProduct-To-Shelf Luncheon Keynote: Bill Whyte, CEO, Badger Balm

Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 12:00 - 1:30 pm

Bill Whyte, CEO & Head Badger of the W.S. Badger Company, is an herbalist, storyteller and self-taught entrepreneur. He traces his success in business back to his first start-up - the weaving and selling of cloth pot holders back when he was about 9 years old.

Bill became a carpenter in the 80's and was the owner of White Light Builders - a company focused on healthy, creative, non-toxic design and construction. When Bill's fingers became severely cracked one bitterly cold New Hampshire winter, he developed the formula for Badger Balm in his kitchen. His fingers were healed fast and a business was born. Now in its 18th year, The W.S. Badger Company is known for its safe effective sunscreens and for a wide variety of simple, healthful balms sold worldwide. Badger occupies a fine new building designed by Bill, where a committed crew of hardworking Badgers formulate, fill, market and sell more than 80 Badger healthy bodycare products. Badger serves a daily free organic lunch for all employees. They have a babies-at-work program, a childcare center and an ecology center to promote healthy, earthy living. Badger donates 10% of pre-tax profits to charitable organizations with a special focus on the health, education and welfare of children.

Natural Products Day 2013

Natural Products Day 2013

The Natural Products Association will host the 16th Annual Natural Products Day in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Natural Products Day offers an opportunity for NPA members and others in the industry to meet with members of Congress. Attendees will visit congressional offices and talk to senators, representatives and their staffs about legislation and regulatory activity that impacts the natural products industry.

Register today!

"This is a crucial time to educate new members of Congress and ensure that harmful legislation does not gain a foothold in the 113th Congress," said John Shaw, NPA executive director and CEO. "Natural Products Day connects industry stakeholders in one unified advocacy event, speaking out for the rights of those who make, use and sell natural products. NPA anticipates many legislative and regulatory challenges for our industry in 2013. This advocacy day lets us bring our thoughts and concerns directly to policymakers."

Natural Products Day helps maintain and increase support on Capitol Hill by informing members of Congress about legislation that will be introduced in the next Congress. This includes the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act, which would help get dangerous products off the market, and the Family and Retirement Health Investment Act, which would allow consumers to buy dietary supplements using their Flexible Savings Account and Health Savings Account dollars.

"Every time that people connect and support causes that aligns with the heart of the natural products industry at Expo East, it is a success not just for one business or cause, but for the future of the industry and the community as a whole.'
